Mino

Hi there, my name is Jonathan Minori. I was born and raised in Tipton, Pennsylvania. I spent a few years in the Steel City of Pittsburgh before making a move out west to Salt Lake City, Utah. I'm currently employed as a Art Director at Struck Creative, and I also freelance under the name Minoflow.

When I'm not working behind the monitor you can find me skiing, biking, hiking and pretty much any other outdoor 'ing'. I've also got a bit of a vinyl toy fetish. I'm going to try my darndest to keep this blog updated but I'm not much of a writer so it will probably be more odds and ends with the occasional self promotion. If that sounds like your cup of tea then stick around or shoot me an email, I love talking to people.

I’m pretty floored right now.  I just got word that the CONSOL recruiting website that I led while at Blattner Brunner has just won a Webby Award for best website in the Employment category.

About the Webby Awards: “The Webby’s are one of the oldest and most prestigious of the awards shows honoring digital work. You can learn more about them here: http://webbyawards.com/about/. It’s worth noting that with over 8,000 entries from 60 countries and all 50 states, just to be nominated is an honor. And to win a category is something that we as an agency should certainly be proud of.”

Brandon, Josh and I headed up to Snowbird this past Sunday (MAY 4TH!) to do a little spring skiing.  What was looking like a normal day of slushy spring snow turned into a pretty decent session off this small hip.  The shape of the jump let us get a little ‘tricky wit it’ so we took full advantage of soft landings and warm weather.  Here are a few pictures, look for more on my flickr account.

With the ski season winding down I’m looking to cure my mountain addiction for the summer months.  I’ve been looking at all mountain bikes for a few weeks and decided to go with this sweet piece of radness above.  I’m still pretty new to mountain biking as Pittsburgh didn’t have the type of terrain like Utah.  I went and got fitted the other day at Canyon Bicycles, one of the best place to get fitted in Utah.  I was pretty amazed at how much a centimeter here and there can help you ride longer and more comfortable.

I can assure you there will be pictures posted on this blog of pure carnage…

It’s that time of year again, when you store away the winter clothes and tell yourself the extra 10lbs you’ve gained is water weight.  One of the first things on my list is to refresh my portfolio with new work.  Unsurprisingly I’m finding that I want to spend more of my free time outside.  So I’ve come up with an alternate solution (for now).  This blog will serve as a portfolio of my recent work along with the occasional random link or video.  I’m still working on getting a formal portfolio online, probably around late summer.  Right now I’m cranking on some awesome projects at Struck and trying to spend as much time enjoying the outdoors.  You can still visit my old portfolio here.  In the mean time here are a few banners I’ve helped create recently.

I snapped this picture of my buddy Adam C. back in early Feb. when we got a record dumping here in Utah.  A few weeks ago I found out about the annual photo contest open to both professional and amateur photographers on Ski Utah’s web site.  Without much thought at actually doing well I submitted the photo, within a few days it’s gotten up to 40 - 5 out of 5 votes!  I just need your help to get the number of votes higher!
